The museum is truly a labour of love and was entirely privately funded. It opened in 2008 and houses an exhibition of costumes which were collected by the owner, Loula Gkotsis, during the 1970s, as well as clothes and jewellery left by her family.
The building itself only dates back to 1980 but stands on land owned and inhabited by the family for more than two hundred years.
The costumes are presented in a series of rooms, each covering a region or regions of Greece. In addition the central room has displays of lace, headscarves, belts, bags, etc. from all around Greece.
